SpyTHINK 097: NEW Revelations About "Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade" (IJTLC)

Spielberg biographer Joseph McBride wrote, "Connery was already the father of Indiana Jones since the series had sprung from the desire of Lucas and Spielberg to rival (and outdo) Connery's James Bond films."[8]

Watching IJTLC for the umpteenth time, believe it or not with large subtitles; I'm a wiser, better informed person knowing the gist of the Crusades and their conquests along the way to geolocate in my head what was presented--IMHO Spielberg/Lucas should have done a quick finger over the map to show the route of the Crusaders that went thru Alexandretta and into the Hatay province; moreover the caption "1939" should have began the movie, too.

I like the IJTLC better now that I don't compare/contrast it with "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (ROTLA) which was a sexy "R" like romantic smash & grab. IJTLC is a RESPONSIBLE tale of adults; very serious good vs. evil with no playing around for fortune & glory; a "PG-13" movie. With the sexy female betraying Indy and dad, the alchemic sexy bond of a Bond movie that ROTLA has evaporated. ROTLA is a James Bond movie based on archaelogy instead of spying.

IJTLC actually has MORE KINETIC ACTION THRILLS than ROTLA.

Read that again and watch again.

1. Grave Robbers vs Young Indy Chase scene.

2. Old Indy in exploding ship in a storm scene.

3. Chase in sewer with rats and lit petrol scene.

4. Wooden speed boats and machine guns chase--straight out of James Bond.

5. Escape from a burning German castle scene.

6. Chase by German Army motoryclists from a side car.

7. Zeppelin LTA flight then parasite biplane dogfight

8. Luftwaffe HTA fighter explode in tunnel scene.

9. Car crash in a car from a small bomb scene followed by stirred birds exploding him.

10. Nazi motorized column to Petra lead by a massive WW1 heavy tank ambushed by rebels with bolt-action rifles scene

11. Tank cannon shells exploding Sallah's relative's car, stick hand grenades, aiming sights for the tank's side 57mm guns, the exposed tracks' weird directions scene...

12. Tank should have had a fiery explosion after going off cliff.

13. The 3x booby trap defeat sequence is at the end instead of the beginning in ROTLA.

14. The betrayal and doom of the villain choosing the wrong grail.

15. The secret Grail location collapsing.

Compare the above to ROTLA's:

1. Booby traps with boulder rumbling, Indy chased by spear throwing natives seaplane escape scene.

2. The gun battle & fire in Marion's Nepalese bar.

3. The basket chase in Egypt with shooting the sword guy and the mega-disturbing, fool-the-audience fiery Karen Allen/Marion end.

4. Indy finding Marion-is-alive scene (had to add this even if not action-packed).

5. The snakes/statue escape scene.

6. The German flying wing fight/explosion scene.

7. The truck chase scene.

8. Indy boards the U-Boat which doesn't submerge scene.

9. Indy threatens to blow up Ark with RPG/Panzerfaust that didn't exist in 1938--but is cool and everyone likes it scene.

10. The angels kill the Nazifucks when they open the Ark scene.

11. Indy/Marion looking mega romantic walking hand in arm down Washington D.C. stairs scene.

No comparison; 2x of the ROTLA action scenes are me being sentimental and are not so only 9x total action scenes. IJTLC with 15x has way more kinetic action. If you're not in a romantic mood, watch it.

THE REAL IMPORTANT MESSAGE OF IJTLC?

Spielberg at best an Old Testament type, and Lucas a pagan...even as NON John 3:16 Christians understood the everlasting life-giving power of the Lord Jesus Christ's blood in a magically-empowered, inanimate potion, kind of way. This actually IS ALMOST valid. If God himself, our Creator comes to Earth, takes human form he can most certainly heal us--but WHO & HOW? With inanimate things evil men could obtain?

Spielberg & Lucas as materialists can't seem to fathom anything but Christ's literal blood in a cup collected as he was murdered unjustly by mankind on the cross in actual space/time history 1, 989+/- years ago at the movie's making.

1. If any Christ blood were collected at the cross it would DRY UP almost immediately.

2. Whatever this blood ended up as it would only be a small, finite amount.

3. If it had everlasting life healing powers, whoever had it would have drank it up.

4. They are not still around so it didn't happen and/or work.

5. The film contradicts itself--at the Donovan exposition he clearly says BLOOD of Christ creates eternal life--NOT water shown later from some kind of cistern the last Crusader Knight was guarding.

6. For sake of argument, let's say again, MAGIC--Christ's blood touching the cup supernaturally empowers it etc. so holy water from the guarded well renders eternal life to anyone as long as they don't go past the floor seal--explaining the 700 year-old knight.

This is where Spielberg/Lucas's non-John 3:16 Christianity smacks them in-the-face.

Evil men even if they drank the literal blood of Christ taken that day from the cross would not be magically forgiven by a SUBSTANCE when supernatural powers from God are not cavalierly given to inanimate objects. God is not absent from everything going on in the world. They would have to show repentance like the thief of the cross did. In the Garden of Eden, there was a tree of life that had fruit food that gave life--inanimate objects that after Adam/Eve were conned by Satan poisoned themselves so God had to evict them from the Garden lest they kept themselves alive perpetually in a horrible degrading state. Thus, the "Holy Grail" concept speculatively borrows the tree of life function from the Garden of Eden and if true would keep people perpetually alive without themselves being renewed--an awful condition God wouldn't create. Prolonging life aka the Illuminati's transhumanism goal is a very dangerous, bad idea; do we want several hundred year old, pedophile canibaals seeking ever more degraded acts?

The only such post-Edenic, Christian objects with supernatural powers are the Ark (holder) of the Covenant as a SECURITY MEASURE to not tamper with its contents--touch it you die--hence the poles depicted in ROTLA--but not explained.

IJTLC implies some supernatural INTELLIGENCE when Donovan drinks from the wrong cup; but what if he was more cunning and wisely chose the humbler-looking cup?

IJTLC implies if he chose the right cup he'd have gotten eternal life as long as he didn't go past the floor seal. Nice caveat, limiting factor make-believe.

The missed opportunity of IJTLC is that the secular Spielberg/Lucas were CLOSE to the John 3:16 truth and didn't know it; statements like "believe in the Grail" just miss. The blood of God himself dying in our place does give us eternal life if we ask to receive his pardon for our past/present/future sins NOT JUST RIGHT NOW IMMEDIATELY AS A SUPERNATURAL MIRACLE. The blood of Jesus Christ works as a LEGAL POSITIONAL PROMISE for the next life; knowing Sir Sean Connery, Deholm Elliott, Lacey and River Phoenix from the cast are no longer with us, heavies my heart.

Generally speaking, the Christian faith doesn't have a lot of inanimate objects requiring supernatural participation to render small-scale miracles--that's Satan's paganism shtick. It's here & now "doubting Thomas" type stuff that isn't not done by God because he's a kill joy wanting us to be driven by unreasonable, unsubstantiated wishful think aka blind faith, it's because of PRACTICAL REASONS of HOW WILL FINITE, EASILY FOOLED HUMANS DIFFERENTIATE GOOD MIRACLES FROM BAD FAKE ONES?

We can't.

This is why the King James Bible (KJB) is central to John 3:16 Christian belief based on tangible words that can be more fully than at face value-understood with supernatural, Holy Spirit help. IJTLC seems to imply Henry Jones Sr. is such a Christian believer but doesn't culminate it into a John 3:16 legal stance taken on by the believer but a works salvation of always trying to do the right things which even at .999 batting average isn't good enough. The whole point of the Old Testament is being a good person is NOT enough; one has to be a FORGIVEN person.

IJTLC should have ended outside Petra as follows:

Indy: "How can we find eternal life if we can't go beyond the seal after drinking from the cup?"

Henry Sr: "Drinking such water only extends life; eternal life comes from Christ's blood if you believe in him dying for our sins; his blood is with him in Heaven where it's supposed to be, Indy"

Indy: "Not from a supernatural relic?"

Henry Sr.: "From a supernatural faith we don't fully understand yet"

Marcus: "I'm ready to get out of here, get a warm bath and hot food...yeeeehawww!"

Henry Dr.: "Lost in his own museum?"

Indy: "Great Minds Think Alike...yeehaww!"

Henry, Sallah follow on horseback into the sunset.

THE END
