Exactly as described, and as expected. Nice blades. Not sure what use I’ll think up for the caltrops or the spikes, but now I’ve got them, so that’s good!

This blade was extremely sharp when I got it but the handle is extremely cheap. The caltrops are real deal and the spikes can be used for stabbing not throwing unless you're a real ninja. I really like the knife but the handle was too slippery and fragile.

(5 out of 5) Excellent quality for the price

This is surprising quality for the price. I had a bit of difficulty drawing the bo shuriken on the first try but it got easier, the push knife is excellent, and the blade itself is well made and balanced. I am highly satisfied. If you are debating the purchase-do it, it is worth the price.

(5 out of 5) Since 2011- . . . . "Get it"

Brought this blade a while back. I still use it quite often for an array of applications. Blade is dang strong stays sharp. But if need be, sharpens fast, ez, great edge retention. Hidden push got loosened after a few draws(i put a epoxy coating along the center on both sides, problem solved still fully functional). Great buy.

(5 out of 5) perfect blade

this is an awesome knife setup, the caltrops are 1/2 the size as my others they are perfect for this multi functional weapon. i would have went with velcro closier on the caltrops other then the snap but all in all its perfect.

(5 out of 5) Good product

For 15 dollars you can't beat this interesting combination. The Tanto isn't made of the best qaulity metal but for the price its good. Solid enough. The push dagger comes out of the handle of the tanto and has a decent point. Although it is a bit dull on the sides. The spikes are end in a sharp point, and the caltrops, while small, are sharp as well. All in all a fun piece for anyone at this price.

Good product

Bought this blade last year and I am very happy with it, the blade itself is great and the sheath is just as good. Would recommend this and will eventually buy another one soon.

The caltrops are sharp. My right thumb got bloody just by touching. The storage compartment for the caltrops was easy to open. The darts are hard to remove, once removed they are sharp. The push dagger and main blade were not as sharp as I thought they would be. The handle on the main blade can be removed for cleaning and then reassembled. Overall great price for well made knife that should cost three times than the original price.

This is a great buy, and a good price. The knife is easily loosened from the sheath but the button strap keeps it from falling. The push dagger comes out easily but won't fall out due without pulling it. The throwing spikes and caltops are a nice touch as well. Overall a great buy.

great product, knife is sharp. the push dagger is easy to pull out but it wont fall out when using the knife. the throwing spikes are small but effective, i now spend hours throwing them at boxes. 2 downsides though, 1 the caltrop box is hard to open and 2 the top spike gets in the way of the band that holds the knife in so you have to work areound it

How to Throw a Throwing Spike

The Japanese bo shuriken, or throwing spike, is a relatively little-known throwing knife with a long and somewhat mysterious history. Modern knife throwers incorporate it into their arsenal and use a technique very similar to the one they use for standard throwing knives. The throwing spike is fairly heavy, and the thrower must hit his target with it very squarely for the spike to stick. As with all martial throwing arts, spike throwing is dangerous, and practitioners should be certain that no one will walk through their line of fire when they are practicing.

Stand facing your target with your right foot about two foot-lengths behind your left and your weight on the ball of your right foot. Align your heels, and turn your right foot out 45 degrees. Bend your front knee and keep your back knee loose and flexible.

Hold the spike in your right hand the way you would hold a hammer, with the body of the spike against your palm and your thumb along its side. Because of the location of the spike’s center of gravity, you can hold either end of the spike and throw it successfully. Hold it from the handle or the tip according to your own preference. Stiffen your wrist so it will not bend when you throw.

Straighten both your arms in front of you and point them toward the target. Keeping your left arm aiming forward, swing your right arm upward and back so the spike is level with your head. Swing your arm forward and shift your weight to your front foot. Just before your throwing hand reaches the level of your aiming hand, release the spike toward the target, keeping your wrist stiff.

As the spike flies, follow through on your swing with your body. Allow yourself to travel forward with your own momentum. This fluidity in your body helps the spike stick in the target.

Practice until you are consistently sticking your spike. Be patient. Finding the right balance of force and relaxation may take some time. When you have developed the muscle memory of where to release the spike, practice throwing without using your left arm to aim.

Tips

If you are left-handed, reverse sides -- begin with your right foot in front and throw with your left hand.

Warnings

Do not allow your momentum to carry your right shoulder further forward than your left shoulder. You should not twist your spine when you throw.
