Richard Belfield writes about the 1997 assassination of Princess Diana in his extremely important book, The Secret History of Assassination: The Killers and their Paymasters Revealed on pages 181-182 of the chapter, COVER-UP:



"A witness, Francois Levistre, driving in the tunnel ahead of the Mercedes also saw the same motorbike. In his account, the bike had 2 people on it, swerved in front of the Mercedes, there was a huge flash of light and the Mercedes lost control, zig-zagging first to the left, then to the right and then to the left. The French police and the judge took an instant dislike to him and dismissed him as "unreliable" for completely irrational reasons. He worked in the black economy and did not have a formal job. He had a long-lapsed minor conviction for fraud and he talked to the newspapers. But according to a handwritten note on the file, the detectives had one major reason, for not believing him - Levistre was a bald man in his fifties who could not be trusted because he had a much younger and very attractive wife. [22] Levistre says the police put a huge amount of pressure on him to change his story (and he was not the only witness to make this claim) and when he refused, they rubbished him to any journalist who would listen.


However, there were several things in his favour. He accurately described the skid pattern of the Mercedes (left, right, left) long before this information became public, he described the presence in the tunnel of a small white car (two weeks before the French police even knew of the white Fiat Uno) and he was clearly describing the same motorbike seen by other witnesses going into the tunnel with the Mercedes. He was also scrupulously honest about the fact that he was speeding. Many other witnesses confused matters and threw out all the timings by saying they were driving within the speed limit but he was quite open about the fact that he was driving at over 80 km/h when he entered the tunnel.




There was further confirmation of this same motorbike from two other witnesses. Severine Banjout described a motorbike fleeing the scene at high speed, while Grigori Rassinger, a photographer, also described a high-powered bike, with a touch of white, which drove off immediately afterwards.


Other witnesses who supported this version of events were simply ignored by the police. Brian Anderson, an American marketing consultant, was in a taxi coming the other way and saw three motorbikes pursuing the Mercedes in an aggressive manner. As they approached the tunnel, one of the motorbikes overtook the Mercedes after which there was a crash. In a TV interview he said that the motorbike contributed to the Mercedes' driver losing control. The French police did not interview him but instead wrote derogatory remarks about American tourists on their file.[23] Brenda Wells, an English secretary, who also saw a motorbike carrying two men following the Mercedes was not interviewed by the French police and has since disappeared.

The view of Anthony Scrivener QC, one of Britain's most experienced barristers who has reviewed much of the same evidence as the judge, was that the driver of the motorbike caused the accident and was guilty (at the very least) of manslaughter, which was the only reasonable conclusion that anyone would draw after reading the evidence.

Short of a confession, the issue is unlikely ever to be resolved. The police made little attempt to identify the motorcyclist and the judge never made it a priority. However, in the summer of 1998, they were approached by a former British intelligence officer, Richard Tomlinson, who told them that when he was working for MI6 in Bosnia (under U.N. cover) there had been a plan to assassinate President Milosevic of Yugoslavia using 2 men on a motorbike, armed with a high-powered flash gun.


The thinking was that the flash would disable the driver causing the car to crash in a suitable place where there was enough concrete to guarantee the deaths of the occupants. Such guns are commercially available and use a single high-powered flash of light to stun their victim. The military version of this weapon is exceptionally powerful, rendering the victim immobile for a good five minutes and still in shock half an hour later.

Though this method of assassination may seem far-fetched, it is not. The West German authorities have been investigating whether it was used by assassins from the Soviet bloc and specifically by a highly trained and well-financed East German assassination team, which operated between 1976 and 1987. One specific assassination under investigation was that of Lutz Eigendorf, an East German footballer who defected to the West in 1979 and died in 1983 in a car crash on a straight road. The suspected method was the flash gun to cause the crash, the Stasi assassins then poured alcohol down his throat to make it look like an accident. Two former Russian Spetsnatz (Special Forces) have also boasted that they `killed a man without firing a shot. He was belting along in a Mercedes ... It was dark and he was doing 130 km/h. We blasted him with an electric light-gun, through the windscreen and, bang, that was the end of him.When the car was opened, all those inside were pulp.

 

But the French inquiry had already steered well away from anything which might link the motorbike to the crash and did not investigate this. Instead, Tomlinson was arrested at gunpoint, beaten up by the French police, and had a rib broken just before he was due to see judge Stephan. His laptop and organizer were taken away and given to MI6. As he remarked in his aflidavit, "The lengths, which MI6, the CIA and DST have taken to deter me giving this evidence and subsequently to stop me talking about it, suggests they have something to hide."

Instead of pursuing the obvious cause of the crash, the judge pinned his verdict on the blood test carried out on the driver Henri Paul, but this was a very shaky foundation. The first samples were simply scooped out of his chest (which was badly smashed in the accident), improperly labelled and then analyzed."

The above testimony is corroborated perfectly by Richard Tomlinson’s historic affidavit given to Judge Herve Stephan’s inquiry into Princess Diana’s death. A former MI6 officer, Tomlinson says he saw plans to assassinate Slobodan Milosovic which bore a strong resemblance to Princess Diana’s fatal crash.

According to Tomlinson: “This third scenario suggested that Milosevic could be assassinated by causing his personal limousine to crash. Dr. Fishwick proposed to arrange the crash in a tunnel, because the proximity of concrete close to the road would ensure that the crash would be sufficiently violent to cause death or serious injury, and would also reduce the possibility that there might be independent, casual witnesses. Dr. Fishwick suggested that one way to cause the crash might be to disorientate the chauffeur using a strobe flash gun, a device which is occasionally deployed by special forces to, for example, disorientate helicopter pilots or terrorists, and about which MI6 officers are briefed about during their training. In short, this scenario bore remarkable similarities to the circumstances and witness accounts of the crash that killed the Princess of Wales, Dodi Al Fayed, and Henri Paul. I firmly believe that this document should be yielded by MI6 to the Judge investigating these deaths, and would provide further leads that he could follow.”

    This manner of death is similar to the single vehicle accidents that killed Paula Grober, and Neil Moody.
