TactiSMART  002 @ the Movies: John Wick GUNg-Fu Fighting, Melee He Loves Me, Melee He Loves Me Not

me·lee
/ˈmāˌlā,māˈlā/
noun
a confused fight, skirmish, or scuffle.

"several people were hurt in the melee"

Similar: tumult disturbance rumpus commotion disorder brawl fracas fight affray fray scuffle breach of the peace struggle skirmish free-for-all tussle quarrel donnybrook bangarang scrap set-to ruction shindy shindig punch-up dust-up rammy roughhouse broil bagarre a confused mass of people.

"the melee of people that was always thronging the streets"

I don't like the John Wick movies. Here's Everything Wrong With (EWW) them's take--primarily absurd story-telling:

John Wick 1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wzkrE0f2MU

John Wick 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xj6dPDJEbMU

John Wick 3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uH074Dv1cPE

Whoever writes them is some kind of nihilist gunfanboy who hates libtards for the wrong reasons: he wants to be immoral and reverse-engineers his stories to that end--in this case murder a lot of bad guys with guns and gung-fu by the allegedly biggest bad-ass to drool over and want-to-be who is really just BAD--the original meaning of the word, 20-something normies.
I don't like Keanu Reeve's John Wick.

Get a shave. Get some common sense. Don't even pretend to be a competent bad-ass when what you depict is dangerous weapons-handling fetish non-sense.

Chubby, civilian wannabe with no-military-experience, Taran Butler foisting himself onto Hollywood as some sort of police/military individual weapons "expert" pushes feel-good--but IRL dangerous--weapons handling fetish non-sense.

WE COULD HAVE EXCITING & REALISTIC ACTION-ADVENTURE MOVIES--IF--Hollywood contacted actual military experts from several areas of combined-arms, expertise--and not just light infantry narcissists--that while an upgrade from John Wick are still not the BEST. "American Sniper" was not bad, but was this unintentional due to production values or a direct result of following Kyle's book narrative?

Actual combat wisdom needs to be distilled into a database and taught as hands-on skills to every U.S. Army Soldier at a Combat College to vaccinate us from dangerous Hollywood weapons handling DISinfo:

Melee Me Not

IRL, one does NOT want to melee fight, EVER.

James Bond or John Wick or Jason Bourne bad-ass or not.

No matter how great you are, an AVERAGE bad guy will aim & hit you when you are not looking or even a stray bullet can down that Tier 1 Special Mission Unit "operator" at the spot on his body where there is no armor. That's why real combat professionals don't mimic "1917" (another foot-Soldier gunmen glorification movie) when they can do 1918 or 1945 or 2020 with tracked, armored tanks--being inside them or following behind them as moving shields. This is why 1 is NONE and 2 is 1 as the 1st tactical wisdom to do--but even a team of 4 or a squad or more QUANTITY is still not enough of an QUALITATIVE advantage to by choice engage in a melee. Its just more fleshy bodies to act as Kinetic Energy (KE) projectile, shrapnel and Chemical Energy (CE) explosion sponges. In Syria, the most successful tactic to evict someone is to lob High Explosive (HE) artillery shells on an area making it untenable for exposed, walking infantry to be there. However wins this artillery fight controls that ground but doesn't actually "own" it until they can live there without enemy HE shells landing on them. Civilian normie life demands no artillery shells landing on Justin Bieber's and Kim Kardashian's heads.

The best way to fight is at LONG ranges beyond 1, 000 meters; best depicted in the sniper duel in "The Hurt Locker" EOD glorification movie and yes, for MEDIUM over 100 meter range battle, the 1st Tom Cruise "Jack Reacher" movie.

No melee.

You may say, "what about room clearing"? aka Close Quarters Battle (CQB)?

If you have to room-clear, send in a HE shell from a tank, rocket launcher or rifle or hand grenade which can demolish the entire building, mousehole an entry wall avoiding the "fatal funnel" of predictable door entry or shoot thru the door with a M100 Simon GREM Rifle Grenade or 20mm/12-gauge shotgun breach and then shoot a 40mm Flash-Bang type mini or full-sized hand grenade.

One HE warhead per room. Not very John Wickian technosexy--but REAL wisdom from WW2 that wins battles and saves friendly lives.

Can't carry enough grenades?

Then get better & more pouches, carts/mules operating from your mother tracked tank. Have more beaucoup than the enemy has.

Can't murder civilians possibly co-located in these urban structures and must use "precision MOUT"?

Send a tracked robot in first. Too technogadgety?

Melee He Loves Me

So John Wick has some bad guys to kill but they are at a dance club surrounded by breasty, sexy civilian normie chicks--we don't want to hit them! Their effeminate soy boy constantly looking down at their selfphones dates are AOK absorbing fire effects.

In a melee, fractions of seconds count--the 1st guy to get weapon Line-of-Sight (LOS) can shoot/hit 1st, so we expect Taran Butler's speed re-loading techniques to give Wick this edge--but if looked at carefully is just tacti-virtue signalling showboating from him. In fact, Wick should RUN & gun through the night club if he wants to have any chance of surviving--not cavalierly walking because he is such a baddddd assss--even with a wingman partner, very breasty Halle Berry. We definitely want her to survive.

If you know you are going to enter a CQB melee and can't afford to be temporarily disarmed by reloading, then CARRY A DRUM MAGAZINE to start the firefight with a superior number of rounds and DO NOT RELOAD for as long as possible. Maximum Rounds Start (MRS). This implies an AR15/M16/M4 5.56mm assault rifle with a reliable MWG 90-Rounder or PMAG 60-round mini-drum and then resort to 30 or 40-round flat magazines to reload after first taking a knee behind cover.

The tactical world at least knows to SLING your AR primary weapon so if it becomes broken or runs dry you can LET GO and have it fall to your side so you can hip-rotate present your 2ndary pistol from its holster if the enemy is within your 21-foot diameter Personal Defense Zone (PDZ) and shoot him without having to resort to unarmed martial arts though you could--hence naming this genre of film, "GUNG-FU FIGHTING". If the Hollywood movie on the Benghazi debacle "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi" is accurate, a supposed "expert" lost his 40mm grenade launcher while slung at his back--robbing the defenders the ability to indirect fire-reach Islamothugs resulting in friendly casualties. This also begs the question of why not carry beaucoup bullet-trap, Rifle Grenades (RGs) that launch from rifle barrels and not need special launchers? If launchers are needed, carry them under your rifle platform so they are less likely to be lost. Cleverly-designed RGs could also be thrown like "stick" hand grenades farther than baseball-type hand grenades.

Not John Wick; he's too big a bad-ass to need a primary weapon; so when it runs dry aka Taran is done with mag change titilation, he throws it away.

This is just uber bullshit.

1., Even empty, the sturdy-stock rifle/carbine (side folders I like) can be used as a very powerful club, with a M9 Wire Cutter Bayonet or clever KELTEC folding bayonet attached becomes a pike--best shown in the National Guard drill weekend nightmare movie, "Southern Comfort"

2.  He can PICK-UP ENEMY PRELoaded MAGAZINES (PRELMs) as-he-goes-along to keep his AR firing since its likely they use STANAG mags if they are using AR-type platforms.

3. If he cannot vultureize enemy AR mags, he can LET GO of his AR and let it be slung at his side until he can, using his 2ndary weapon. Speaking of slinging weapons across Wick's back....let's talk about what Wick's 2ndary weapon should be. Maybe he doesn't have to sling his primary weapon just yet because his 2ndary weapon is mounted underneath it?--no, not Al Pacino's Scarface's "Say hello to my little friend" 40mm grenade launcher that Daniel Craig's 007 is using in the upcoming "No Time to Die". 40mm HE rounds exploding in the dance club will kill the hot chicks we want to save--we need a more selective blast:

Meet the AR/ASG Combo

BUT IT SHOULD NOT BE A 10-POUND, FULL-SIZED, 12-GAUGE SHOTGUN THAT HAS BEEN SITTING SLUNG ACROSS HIS BACK ALL THIS TIME slowing down his mobility and offering nadda to the immediate fight.

Butler's full-sized, 12-gauge shotgun weapons handling 3-Gun Match fetish is not shared by those who need the LEAST AMOUNT OF WEIGHT on their backs who can't be cavalier about Soldier's load like a fantasy video game 1st Person Shooter CGI.

3-Gun Civilian Normiefests

4. The U.S. Army uses a minimalist CMORE M26 bolt-action, 5 or 10-round magazine-fed 12 gauge shotgun mounted underneath Soldier M4 carbines to slug-breach open doors and/or spray pattern Double 00 buckshot into bad guys. An Assault ShotGun (ASG) mounted under the Assault Rifle (AR). The amazing but non-existent, Crey Precision Six-12 shotgun can be mounted under an AR and fires even faster than the M26 because its detachable, revolver magazine-fed--fire as fast as you can squeeze the trigger.

Other "Master Key" options include the original--stripped-down Remington 870s or a pistol-grip Mossberg 500 with Picatinny rails using SYA-101 adapters to connect under an AR.

The under-belly shotgun should be Wick's 2ndary weapon after he runs the initial drum and magazines out--at least 6 and perhaps a couple of 6-round revolver, magazine or individual reloads in a couple pouches OVER HIS RIFLE-BULLET-RESISTANT,  HARD BODY ARMOR--which can be under his black long coat if the MATRIX fetish look must be fed.

Thus, Wick could 1st get into the building/dance club by breaching a back door with his under-slung, 12-gauge shotgun.

He starts the melee without having to re-load for the first 90 rounds using a MWG drum.

Next, he should have at least 8 x 40-round magazines to reload for another 320 rounds.

IF during reloading a bad guy appears, Wick can blow him/them away with 5 or 6 x 12-gauge shotgun rounds.

If there is a lull, he can also get behind cover to reload his shotgun with another 12 rounds--but notice that if a perp thinks now is the time to rush him or expose self enough to LOS aim-in on him--SURPRISE! his AR is still loaded with 5.56mm to pierce through him even if wearing soft body armor--though not hard body armor.

Wick's pistol should be his last-ditch Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) which if its against vauntttttted  highly-skilleeeddd assasssins should be wearing at the very least soft body armor--9mm, 10mm, 11mm (.45 ACP) ain't gonna cut it. He needs a 5.7mm x 25mm AP shooting pistol to punch thru soft body armor--so far the best is the new Ruger 57. Ideal would be a SIG SAUER in 5.7mm with the folding Universal Service Weapon (USW) stock so as he runs thru the melee and exits the other side of the building, as he gains separation distance, he can keep tagging his pursuers out to 50 meters.

Wick's Best GUNGFU Melee Order of Battle

Him + 1 Wingman weaponized as following:

* Rifle Bullet-Resistant Helmet & Ballistic Eye Protection

* Hard Body Armor Vest with 4 x pouches with 2 x 40-round magazines of 5.56mm and 2 x 6 round, 12 gauge revolver mags if that's the ASG in use

* MATRIX faggoty black long coat if one must

* 1 x Assault Rifle with 90-Round Drum and Red Dot Collimator Sight Co-Witnessed to Iron Sights Slung on Torso

* 1 x 12 gauge revolver shotgun mounted under the AR with 6 rounds

* 1 x 5.7mm Pistol with 15 + 1 rounds and folding stock/red dot optic in holser with 2 x 15 round mags
________________________________________________________________________

410 x 5.56mm rounds
  18 x 12 gauge shotgun rounds
  46 x 5.7mm pistol rounds

______________________

544 x rounds to kill potentially 544 bad guys with 1-shot or 272 bad guys with 2-shot kills

* Can use folding-stock rifle as a club or with bayonet attached--a spear to kill more bad guys.

Obviously, he could carry LESS AMMO for increased mobility. A package of QUIK-CLOT and bandage and tourniquet should be in a pouch on the body armor vest. He starts the fight fully fed and hydrated and carries a Camel-Bak bladder with drink tube for hands-free hydration since he's going to sweat--a lot.

However, the more you SWEAT IN PEACE, the less you BLEED IN WAR.

James Bond is REAL
